Colonic hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation, is a safe and effective way of removing toxins and waste from the bowel wall. Some of this waste matter that colonic irrigation can effectively remove are as follows:
Colonic irrigation is a very safe procedure, which is effective in aiding and alleviating many of the following conditions:
You should avoid excessive eating and drinking for a day prior to your colonic hydrotherapy appointment. It is advisable that you increase your water intake to maximise the benefit you can expect from the procedure.
Before your appointment we will send you an information leaflet to give exact details on how to prepare prior to the procedure and what to expect afterwards and advice. But don't let this put you off we only advise a degree of preparation to ensure you get the most out of your session. The session will entail talking to your therapist and gong through a consultation form to try and get to the bottom of any underlying problems, these will be questions about your lifestyle and medical history.
At our Edinburgh Salon we have a specially designed room with separate toilet facilities in quiet area of the salon to ensure you can relax and feel comfortable. The procedure itself involves lying on your side, on a the bed whilst sterile warm water is passed into your bowel via a speculum tube inserted into your rectum (back passage). The water is gravity feed from a tank next to the bed and then passed through filters to sterilise it where it is also regulated to exactly the right temperature to ensure it is a comfortable sensation. The water then passes through your colon in an attempt loosen the stools and impact faeces and also encourage the bowel own natural operation of peristalsis. The waste elements and water are then removed via a connection on the same tube to another pipe, which drains away the toilet sewage system. This process is carried out several times for about 40-45 mins until the either the colon is partially or fully empty dependent on the time.
To aid the process your therapist will use a colon massage technique or herbal tinctures to encourage the bowel to empty if necessary.
We would advise you do not eat anything too heavy or drink alcohol excessively. Dependent on the content of your stool the therapist may advise you of pro-biotics to help aid digestion and advise on diet, water intake and herbal supplements to maximise your benefit from the session. It may be necessary too has a course of colonic treatments to get the benefit desired. Full advice on what to do and not ot do will be given by the therapist during and after the treatment, to include dietary advice.
Colon therapy may be a little uncomfortable at times, but not painful for the majority of people. Our therapist at the Edinburgh Salon are very experienced and will ensure it is as pleasesant and comfortable as possible, we will also ensure that the treatment is carried out as discretely as possible maintaining your modesty. The ideal scenario and to ensure you get the most out of your sessions is to combine the treatments with properly advised fasting and supplements along with small changes to your lifestyle will help.
We at Inside&Out recommend that out clients book in for three sessions roughly about two weeks apart but this will depend upon what your therapist feels after your consultation it may well be more with shorter intervals in-between colonic irrigation sessions for the more severe cases and may well be less. As mentioned earlier these sessions also get the colons own peristalsis movement going again and the colon should begin to reshape and function by itself also.
Friendly bacteria prosper in the correct environment which is a clean and healthy bowel if you are having problems it is most likely the case that this is not the case with you, so the bacteria most likely to be found will be bad bacteria causing discomfort, pain and sometimes illness and disease.
